What is LEEA?
LEEA are the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association, an organisation dedicated to ensuring safety and quality across lifting equipment materials and supplier integrity. LEEA are on a mission to educate, influence, and ensure that safe practice is the everyday norm. Here at SafetyLiftinGear we’re advocates of that message, and so we are very pleased as punch to be approved as full members of an internationally well-respected institution.
After its initial foundation in 1944 under the name “London Chain Testers Association”, the group continued to grow and expand. Over the last 80 years they have undergone rebranding several times as they developed and evolved, eventually becoming the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association in 1988.
What does it mean to be a member of LEEA?
To become a LEEA member, your company must be active in the lifting equipment industry and be registered and trading for at least 12 months. After filling out a full application and completing a pre-audit assessment (PAA), you will be sent a provisional membership offer, and you can prepare for your compliance audit.
For the next stage in the LEEA membership process, you must undergo a thorough compliance audit where you will be examined and assessed on your ability to uphold and maintain the exemplary standards required by LEEA. You will receive feedback and development actions as required, and if completed within the time frame set, you may continue on to your membership pathway.
This thorough membership process ensures that only those who provide the highest-quality products and services can attain a membership. When using a LEEA member, you can be confident that they are compliant to any and all relevant standards and legislation, competent, and are continually raising the standards of practice.
