One of the best things about working in the lifting and handling industry is the wide range of jobs we encounter from one day to the next. For example, the team at SafetyLiftinGear's Plymouth depot recently helped one of our valued customers to prepare for a sea voyage by inspecting their ship's on-board lifting equipment.
At around five o'clock on Thursday 8th April, our Plymouth office received a phone call asking us to attend the vessel Pacific Constructor the following morning. The ship was moored nearby at Millbay Docks, and its register of lifting equipment and loose lifting tackle needed a thorough inspection before the vessel set sail on Saturday 10th April.
Of course we obliged - Danny, our lifting equipment inspector, was sent down to the docks, where he spent the day inspecting all of the vessel's lifting equipment. He made sure that everything was LOLER compliant and safe to use.
About the vessel
Pacific Constructor is a sub-sea multi-purpose vessel that's best known for being part of the Ocean Infinity fleet.
Back in 2018, the Ocean Infinity fleet spent 90 days at sea searching for the wreckage of the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 (MH370). Their ships were also involved in the search for the Argentinian submarine ARA San Juan.
If you have any equipment that needs to be inspected, the SafetyLiftinGear team can help. We are qualified to inspect a wide range of lifting and handling products to ensure that they are safe to use - contact us today to discuss your requirements!
