The BLOODHOUND Project: There's an App for That!

As we've proudly stated again and again over the last few months, SafetyLiftinGear is the official supplier of lifting / material handling products to The BLOODHOUND Project, an attempt to both break the land speed record and inspire a new generation of scientists and engineers.

Of course, even if we weren't involved in The BLOODHOUND Project, we'd still be closely tracking its progress - after all, who wouldn't be interested in a supersonic car that can travel at 1000mph?

One of the latest developments from Team BLOODHOUND is the creation of a mobile app that allows you to get the inside scoop on The BLOODHOUND Project and related topics like the history of the land speed record and the science behind the car that will hopefully break it.

The app is available for iOS and Android devices - get it from the App Store or Google Play now! It costs less than a pound, and all proceeds will be invested back into the BLOOHOUND education programme, so your pennies will be going towards a very good cause! Easter Holiday 2016 Delivery Dates

We'd like to wish all our customers a Happy Easter, and thank you for your continued business. Revised delivery dates are as follows:

Orders placed 24th March on 2-3 day delivery will be delivered on Tuesday 29th / Wednesday 30th March
Orders placed 24th March Next Day will be delivered on Tuesday 29th March
Any purchases over the bank holiday weekend will be processed upon our return on Tuesday 29th March, and dispatched as soon as possible.

If unsure whether or not your items will be delivered on time, please contact us first on 01179 381600 before placing your order.

Our offices will be closed over the Bank Holiday weekend but open again from 8am on Tuesday 29th March.

Bloodhound SSC: The Latest Photos

In 2008, Richard Noble and Andy Green announced their plans to smash the World Land Speed Record, while, at the same time inspiring the next generation to become enthusiastic about mathematics, engineering and science.

Undoubtedly, the BLOODHOUND SSC is one of the most complex cars created. It states on their websites, that when the car is completed it will comprise of over 3,500 parts, many of which have been designed specifically for the BLOODHOUND SSC, including unique engines designed by Jaguar and Bristol’s own Rolls-Royce.

Inside the BLOODHOUND SSC you will find a EUROJET EJ200 jet engine which will supply the car with only half of its thrust! A Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) in the form of a Jaguar Supercharged V8 Engine. This will be used to supply 800 litres of high test peroxide to the rocket in just 20 seconds! And finally, the rocket engine, to accelerate the car to 1000 mph the rocket engine combined with the jet engine will provide a thrust of 212kN.
