SafetyLiftinGear.com Sponsors Charity Fundraisers

We at SafetyLiftinGear.com are always happy to get behind a good cause, and we often sponsor people who are doing amazing things to raise money for charity.

Here are two very impressive fundraising efforts that we are currently sponsoring:

Running a Marathon for the White Lodge Centre

This coming weekend, Stephanie Doolan will be pulling on her trainers and running a full 26.2 mile marathon to raise money for the White Lodge Centre, a charity that provides support for disabled people and their families and carers.

The White Lodge Centre is a cause that's very close to Stephanie's heart. Her daughter Emily was born with a rare chromosome duplication condition; she also has autism, early onset arthritis, and dual hip dysplasia. Emily couldn't walk until she was 5 years old and had undergone multiple hip/leg operations.

Throughout Emily's life to date, the White Lodge Centre has been a crucial source of support, equipment and advice for Stephanie and her family. "The White Lodge Centre have quite literally given Emily her legs back," says Stephanie on her JustGiving page. "The support and encouragement they have dedicated to Emily has been inspiring and I can't put into words how grateful we are."

Stephanie has already completed several fundraising runs for the White Lodge Centre, including a 5k, a 10k, and a half marathon. However, this will be her first full marathon, so we hope you'll join us in donating to her fund and showing your support! Donate here >

20Twenty Challenge

We've supported Shaun Gash - a man who, in spite of being paralysed from the waist down, never shies away from a demanding physical challenge - in a number of fundraising efforts in the past, and we were more than happy to lend a hand when with his latest project: the 20Twenty Challenge.

This August, Shaun and his friend Gavin will be attempting to travel from Land's End to John o'Groats in less than 20 days. Instead of making this journey on bicycles (as many other fundraisers do), Shaun and Gavin will be travelling in self-propelled wheelchairs...and they are hoping to set a new Guinness World Record in the process!

We at SafetyLiftinGear are proud to have supplied Shaun and Gavin with protective helmets and a few other pieces of safety gear - we hope our products will serve them well as they make their way from Cornwall to the Scottish Highlands. This is a 'mass participation' event, and the two men are hoping that they will be able to make a big difference to lives up and down the country. Find out how you can get involved here.

Recently, Littlehampton Welding Ltd got in touch with us regarding the usage of some of our Hydraulic Cylinders to help with the construction of a scorer box for the Lords Cricket Ground. We're always keen to help out with a big project here at SafetyLiftinGear and we were more than happy to help out help out with this project. Our Hydraulic Cylinders helped lift the scorer box to allow work to be made on it; and It's safe to say Littlehampton Welding Ltd were bowled over with the quality of our hydraulic cylinders, which made their job a whole lot easier.

Our cylinders can be used for a range of projects in garages, construction sites, workshops, and many other environments; and if you're worried that your load that needs lifting is too heavy, you'll be happy to know that we have hydraulic cylinders that can lift loads as heavy as 100 tonnes. So, no matter what your lifting requirements are, we're confident you'll find a hydraulic cylinder that can meet them.

If you're interested in purchasing a hydraulic cylinder to help with your project, you can view our entire range of hydraulic jacks and cylinders by clicking here. If you have any specific requirements that our comprehensive range doesn't meet, please do not hesitate to call us on 0808 123 69 69 - we're more than happy to discuss a bespoke solution for you.

A new year is just around the corner, and big changes are afoot here at SafetyLifitnGear! Early in January 2017, we will be moving our Bristol operations to brand new premises in Avonmouth. We'll be gaining an addition 28,000 square feet when we move into the new building, which will serve as both our head office and our distribution centre.

Here's what our new home looks like from the outside:

New SafetyLiftinGear Distribution Centre

Aside from all the extra space we'll have, the most exciting thing about this move is the number of jobs it will create. We will be taking on a new wave of staff as part of the transition, and we hope that this will be a huge boon to the community in Avonmouth and the surrounding area.

SafetyLiftinGear is a leading supplier of lifting/handling equipment and height safety gear. We have 7 depots across the UK - click here to find your nearest location. And don't worry if you don't live near any of our depots, because you can also order online via our website!

We are very pleased and proud to share the news of a fantastic challenge being undertaken by our finance manager, Sam Wickens, who will cycle 450km in aid of women's cancer charities at the beginning of next year.

Stretching across Vietnam and Cambodia, the ride organised by Women V Cancer will be a long and demanding challenge for Sam, who is hoping to reach her fundraising target of £3,000 over the next two months. The funds will be split between three amazing, women's cancer charities, each of which provides much-needed support for women suffering with cancer.

If you would like to donate, both ourselves and Sam would be extremely grateful for any sponsorship support that you would be able to offer to this incredibly worthwhile cause. Full details about the cycle ride, along with sponsorship information, can be found on Sam's Just Giving page here:

Lifting BLOODHOUND

As an official partner of The BLOODHOUND Project, we at SafetyLiftinGear have been watching the progress of this undertaking with feverish enthusiasm since day one. It's been amazing to see the BLOODHOUND car - a record-breaker in the making - gradually coming together, and we were very excited to learn that the team had finally set a date for their creation's record attempt. We will hopefully see BLOODHOUND break the world land speed record (which currently stands at just over 763mph) in October 2017 - that's just over a year from now!

There was even more excitement to be had here in the SLG office when photos emerged (on @BLOODHOUND_SSC's official Twitter page) of a SafetyLiftinGear beam being use to lift the monstrous supercar from its hubs.

It's great to see our products forming part of such an amazing project, and we can't wait for the record attempt in October '17  - we wish the BLOODHOUND team every success!

SafetyLiftinGear recently sponsored the Lloyds Bank Manufacturing team on a 40-mile charity walk. This sponsored walk aimed to raise money for BBC Children in Need, and we were pleased to hear that the Lloyds team managed to raise more than £13,000 for this very worthy cause.

Sponsors

A charity walk may not sound particularly challenging, but be assured that this was no ordinary stroll: 40 miles is a very long way, and the Lloyds Manufacturing team took two days to complete it. That's two days of uneven terrain, sore legs, and painful blisters!

With this in mind, we'd very much like to congratulate the team for completing their walk and for raising so much money for BBC Children in Need. Well done everybody!

If you follow us on Twitter, you may have noticed some very exciting goings-on over the past few weeks, as Shaun Gash set off on his inspiring ascent to the top of Kilimanjaro!

You may remember our work with Shaun from this post back in April 2015, which was shared just after he completed a gruelling 10 kilometre, military-style obstacle course - just one of many challenges Shaun has undertaken to push his physical boundaries, while also raising money for charity. The challenges Shaun has undertaken are highly demanding, and are made all the more impressive by the fact that he has managed to achieve all of this as a T5/6 paraplegic, after suffering a car accident 24 years ago.

Before taking on the Born Survivor course, Shaun came to us with a request for a bespoke safety harness, which was used by him and his teamates to help him complete the course. We are happy to say that Shaun was obviously pleased with the equipment we provided, as we are also providing the kit for his latest endeavour!

Shaun set off on the Rongai route of Kilimanjaro on the 5th of August, and we are eagerly awaiting updates on his progress over on the Kiliwheels Twitter page!

To find out more about the challenge, and the fantastic charities being funded by this amazing feat, head over to the Kiliwheels site.
