What Is a Fall Restraint System?

Whereas fall restraint systems aim to prevent falls from happening in the first place, fall arrest systems are designed to catch the worker when a fall occurs. Fall arrest systems are typically reserved for use in environments where a worker needs unrestricted movement and access to all areas.

Fall restraint lanyards

There are significant differences between fall restraint lanyards and fall arrest lanyards. Fall arrest lanyards are equipped with an energy-absorbing element designed to dissipate the energy generated during a fall. While fall arrest lanyards can be used in restraint systems, fall restraint lanyards CANNOT be used in a fall arrest system as they are not equipped with this energy-dissipating element.
